Breaking the Yelling–Guilt Cycle

Lorena Seidel

Description

You’ve read the parenting books. You’ve learned the scripts. You’ve told yourself, next time I’ll stay calm. And then the moment happens. The meltdown.  The overwhelm. The reaction that comes faster than you expected. And afterward… the guilt. If you’ve ever found yourself stuck in that cycle — trying your best but still reacting in ways that don’t feel aligned – you’re not alone.

Lorena’s TEDx talk on what happens in the “heat of the moment” has resonated with thousands of parents around the world. In this conversation, we’re going deeper – beyond insight and into practical, real-life application. This is not about adding more strategies.
It’s about understanding what’s happening underneath – so you can respond differently when it matters most.

We unpack

  • Why great parenting strategies often fall apart in high-stress moments
  • The Think–Feel–Act cycle: and how reactions actually take over
  • A simple “Do-Over” framework: to repair and reconnect after hard moments
  • A new way of seeing behavior that builds skills instead of shame
  • How to break generational patterns and respond with more intention

The hardest part of parenting isn’t knowing what to do. It’s being able to do it in the moment. When emotions rise, logic often disappears. And without the right tools, we fall back into patterns we never meant to repeat. This conversation is about creating a different path forward – one that feels calmer, more intentional, and more connected.
