In this workshop, families and educators of all ages will gain a practical understanding of the fundamentals of the Montessori method of education as it is contrasted with the conventional framework. We will discuss the Montessori triad and the important shifts away from a rewards/punishments model to one that truly honors the whole child and their essential development. This is a practical and engaging workshop that focuses on using the simple fundamentals of Montessori’s work to create empowering spaces at home and at school.

Mariana is an experienced and passionate advocate for supporting children and caregivers during life’s most critical years of development. Mariana has over a decade of work in Montessori classrooms, is a former Montessori school leader, and has supported over 2000 families with group and 1:1 support through her program The PEACE Program. She is also the author of the award-winning book, Babies Build Toddlers: A Montessori Guide to Parenting the First 18 Months. Through The PEACE Program, she works with families and educators in service of the liberation of the child from oppressive systems that constrain the child’s ability to develop as they are trying to.

Lucie Brixi Tamášová is first and foremost a mother of three children (and two wonderful bonus children). For more than 17 years, she has been searching for kind, practical, and research-based answers to the everyday challenges of parenting and helping make them accessible to families around the world.

She is the founder of international projects including Childhood Potential Club, Montessori Parenting, and the Childhood Potential Conference, through which she connects parents, educators, and leading child development experts from across the globe. Through her work, she promotes a respectful and conscious approach to children while helping parents navigate everyday life with greater calm, understanding, and confidence.

Alongside her international work, Lucie also leads educational projects in Kenya and Guinea through the NGO Centrum Dialog, helping provide access to quality education for children with limited opportunities. She deeply believes that conscious support of children has the power to positively shape the future of society as a whole.
