Real Montessori at Home: With No Time, No Help, and No Perfect Playroom

Junnifa Uzodike

Description

Junnifa Uzodike spent this LiveTalk on Montessori in the homes most of us actually live in: small, busy, and nothing like the photos. She starts by treating Montessori as a lens rather than a set of materials, and walks through the four planes of development, which she calls the Montessori secret, so you can see what your child is building right now. Then she takes the prepared environment back to its basics. Can your child reach what they need on their own? Is there order they can help create and restore? A big house, she says, can make that harder, not easier.

In the recording you will also hear her SIMPLE framework for the first time (Simplify, Involve, Model, Pause, Look, Enjoy), why the same human tendencies make Montessori work in any culture, what involving a toddler can look like on a tired weekday evening, from handing you tomatoes to sorting cutlery or simply being close, and why the kitchen is her favourite place to parent. She closes with the one thing she would keep if everything else feels like too much: live with your children and be present.

Featuring

Junnifa Uzodike

Junnifa Uzodike is one of a small number of Montessori educators in the world trained across the full span of childhood and adolescence, from birth through age 18. She is AMI trained at the 0 to 3, 3 to 6, 6 to 12 and 12 to 18 levels, served on the international AMI board for eight years, and is the founder and head of school of Fruitful Orchard Montessori School in Abuja, Nigeria.

She is also a mother of four, and her own children have been raised with Montessori from the beginning of their lives. She co-wrote the international bestsellers The Montessori Baby and The Montessori Child, translated into more than 25 languages, and her new book The Montessori Kitchen comes out on October 13, 2026. What she cares about is making Montessori accessible, practical and deeply human: helping parents move past following techniques, and towards understanding the child in front of them.

She is the founder of international projects including Childhood Potential Club, Montessori Parenting, and the Childhood Potential Conference, through which she connects parents, educators, and leading child development experts from across the globe. Through her work, she promotes a respectful and conscious approach to children while helping parents navigate everyday life with greater calm, understanding, and confidence.

Alongside her international work, Lucie also leads educational projects in Kenya and Guinea through the NGO Centrum Dialog, helping provide access to quality education for children with limited opportunities.
